We are seeking a Property Accountant to play a key role within our growing organization. Reporting to the Chief Financial Officer, you will be responsible for managing accounting activities.

Main Responsibilities

YOUR CONTRIBUTION

Accounting and Financial Statements

  • Manage the full accounting cycle for a portfolio of properties.
  • Prepare quarterly financial statements (balance sheet, income statement, cash flow).
  • Record accounting entries, monthly adjustments, and year-end entries.
  • Perform bank reconciliations and general ledger account reconciliations.
  • Manage the final billing of operating expenses (taxes, energy, 13th invoice, etc.) in accordance with lease agreements.
  • Prepare monthly GST/QST filings.

Analysis and Budget Monitoring

  • Analyze variances between actual results and approved budgets.
  • Participate in the preparation of annual budgets and forecast updates.
  • Produce and validate financial reports and performance indicators.
  • Support property managers in interpreting their financial results.

Management

  • Ensure compliance with established deadlines.
  • Apply existing accounting policies and maintain internal controls.

Collaboration

  • Validate financial information received from property managers and partners.
  • Work closely with the operations team, management, and external partners.
  • Maintain strong business relationships with stakeholders.

Special Projects and Continuous Improvement

  • Participate in year-end processes and respond to external auditors’ requests.
  • Contribute to various projects aimed at optimizing accounting processes.

Skills Profile and Required Qualifications

YOUR PROFESSIONAL SKILLS

  • Your autonomy, team spirit, and strong organizational skills will be major assets in this role.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting;
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in multi-entity real estate accounting (mandatory);
  • Proficiency with Hopem software (mandatory);
  • Excellent command of Microsoft Office, particularly Excel;
  • Strong organizational, prioritization, and analytical skills;
  • Ability to meet tight deadlines;
  • Proficiency in French, both spoken and written.
